CMMI – Requirements Management

CMMI

Requirements Management and CMMI

CMMI has enormous importance as a quality system in the systems and software industry, and can be considered the de facto standard in this area. Nevertheless, CMMI can be applied to different areas, such as systems engineering, hardware, etc.

What is CMMI?

In CMMI for Development there are two process areas directly related to Requirements Engineering:

  • Requirements Management (REQM)
  • Requirements Development (RD)

Benefits

  • CMMI LEVEL 2: MANAGED

Visure Requirements allows automating parts of the processes, ensuring fulfillment of processes even in moments of stress.

Level 2 of CMMI for recommends using a professional tool to monitor and trace requirements: Manual maintenance is so costly and error prone, that the risk of abandoning best practice is very high if such a tool is not available.

  • CMMI LEVEL 3: DEFINED

Organizations must have general processes defined, which will be tailored to the different projects as needed. Visure Requirements facilitates the implementation of requirements processes at level 3, as it helps to standardize and harmonize the application of processes along the company.

  • CMMI LEVEL 4: QUANTITAVELY MANAGED AND LEVEL 5: OPTIMIZING

Quantitative management is not possible without the storage of data that can subsequently be exploited for the calculation of metrics and the development of performance models or process behavioral models, hence the processes and information managed in Visure Requirements are essential for improving maturity.
