Dutch Requirements Engineering And Management

DREAM, the Dutch Requirements Engineering, and Management (DREAM) gathering was organized for the tenth time on October 03, 2019. This is an annual meeting for anyone who professionally creates or manages specifications for ICT applications.

Micael Martins, Regional Sales Director at Visure Solutions, will be presenting a whitepaper titled “How, When, and Why to automate the Quality Analysis Requirements using Natural Language Processing”.

“It is common knowledge that about half of all engineering errors originate in the requirements (the result of several studies, like “An Information Systems Manifesto” from J. Martin). However, most systems and software defects are checked and found later in the product lifecycle. Why? The reason is sadly simple: it is hard and time-consuming to defect issues in requirements, as they are mostly written in natural language, and teams lack automatic tools for this purpose. But today, computational advances in Natural Language Processing are allowing modern requirements quality analysis tools to become viable for use in development environments. The presentation would show different industry solutions that permit detecting vague or unclear requirements, inconsistencies, and ambiguities, showing when they can help and also their limits.”
